I have a ring i bought a few years ago. I was several hundred dollars and has a decent size redish/green stone in the center, a blue stone on either side and two itty bitty diamonds on the outside. I took a picture but don’t how to load it on here… Anyways, my soon-to-be fiance doesn’t have a whole lot of $ to spend on a ring so I was thinking about giving him my ring and saying that he could just take out the redish one and put in a diamond. Would that be worth it? The stone is 1/4 of an inch by 3/16th of an inch. I have no idea what size karat stone or whatever that is. it would probably be a decent sized diamond. I’m just wondering if it would actually save him/us money in the long run. Can you just buy a plain diamond and have it set in a ring?

the stone is about 3-4 carats, does that mean its citrine?

I would like a simple 3 stone setting using my bridal set diamonds. They are small stones, I think 1/3 ct and 2, 1/6 ct. Do you know how much this would cost approximately?

But the thing is..its not an *engagement* ring..it was just an upgrade for the ring I already have… the ring he first bought me a couple years ago was a 1/4 CT marquese 3 stone w/ accent baquettes (SP?)…this ring is a 1/2 carat princess cut 3 stone w/ circle accent diamonds .the 3 diamonds have the 4 stone effect where its 4 diamonds creating one whole one…I love the ring..but I am kind of disapointed it doesn’t have that *special meaning*…he gave it to me as an early christmas present…We was in the kitchen and he hands it to me and says *merry christmas*. it was exactly what i wanted for an engagement ring…but of course he was not on one knee…he asked if i liked it because I guess I had a look on my face like I didn’t but I did.. i think I was just bummed out he didn’t ask me to marry him.

He said maybe one day I will get a bigger one if we ever did get engaged…I mean the ring he already gave me is plenty! has this ever happened to anyone??
His mother & I are extremely close…she reassured me that her kids wait for anything important because they wanna know its a good descion.. after all his brother waited 6 years to propose to his girlfriend.. & they have been together for 9 years..so I suppose that may be my bf’s plans…

My boyfriend is letting me pick out my ring. I really want the Tacori 3 emerald diamond ring but not sure what size stone to put in the center. would anyone happen to have pictures of what certain carats look like on your finger. i usually wear a sz 7 so my fingers are not that little. i don’t want something that looks fake but i want it to stand out. the tcw of the ring is 1.51 without the center…thank you

I have always told myself that I would never purchase an engagement ring from an online store, due to the risk of not knowing 100% the quality of the diamond (and because I want to be able to sit down and personally choose a diamond), and also because I want to be more traditional.

However, since this ring does not come with the center stone, I would obviously be buying the diamond separately if I purchased the setting online. I cannot find this setting anywhere else at all, and since the diamond accents wouldn’t even be chosen by me if I went to a jeweler, do you think it would still be appropriate to get the setting from the online store and then the diamond from a jeweler?

*Also, if I took the ring to a jeweler, would they be able to resize it for me, even though I hadn’t purchased it at their store? Thanks for your help.
Tiffany, are you referring to the cost of having it set by the jeweler? Or the cost of the center stone?
My question is more directed at the idea of whether or not it would still be risky to buy online, even though it would just be the setting, and whether or not it would still be considered appropriate or traditional to do so. Thanks again everyone!

10K White Gold Round 3 Stone Blue Diamond and White Diamond Promise Ring – Size 7

it is a 3 stone 14 kt white gold ring with a total of 3/4 carat split evenly between the 3 round brilliant diamonds. sl1 clarity G-H color excellent symmetry, no fluorescence. It costs $1500. Is this an ok deal? My girlfriend wants a 3 stone ring with all of the diamonds about the same size is the reason I am not looking at one larger stone. Thanks for any and all help! I don’t want to get a ring from ebay or a pawn shop.
That kays link showed a diamond only 2/3 the size and with several more smaller diamonds at a horrible clarity.
