I like diamonds but almost every woman has one and therefore I feel they’re overated. I would much rather have a mystic fire topaz gem for many different reasons (for one I’m not a materialistic person and would much rather have something of sentimental value no matter what it costs and I’d like to have something “different” from the every day norm engagement ring), but my boyfriend says an engagment ring should be diamond.

I don’t think it should matter what stone it is, or if it’s an heirloom or purchased from a jewler, or if it’s $100 or $3,000, as long as the feelings represented by it are real and true.

Should I just relax and be thankful I have a man that is willing to discuss rings and marriage, or is this a point worth making?
I have told him why I would prefer not to have a diamond.
Here’s the thing you guys aren’t understanding I DON’T WANT A DIAMOND.

If anything I’d like to have a M.F.Topaz and if anything diamond accents. And I don’t care about the popularity of MFT, and I don’t care if it “clashes” with outfits or not. I like it and I think it’s very pretty.

Its uncertified, color H-I, clarity SI2, pear, .68cttw, center stone is 6mmx4mm and 1/3rd ct. .34ct, sidestones same color and clarity 2 baguettes, 2 princesses, set in a 14k yellow gold setting, size 8 shank is about 2.5mm and has original paperwork accompanying it?
It’s mine, it is about 10 years old.

Recently my boyfriend and I decided to start ring shopping. The first ring I picked out was…cute…but after a few more visits, the ring size and style kept changing and growing untill eventually we both decided on a 2 carat canary diamond center stone with white diamond side stones bringing the total carat weight to 3.18 carats and the price tag to $20,000. We haven’t brought the ring home yet but all my friends and family that I have told about it have initially freaked out and then told me that I need to pick a different ring and spend the money on something more “important”. What should I do?

But the thing is..its not an *engagement* ring..it was just an upgrade for the ring I already have… the ring he first bought me a couple years ago was a 1/4 CT marquese 3 stone w/ accent baquettes (SP?)…this ring is a 1/2 carat princess cut 3 stone w/ circle accent diamonds .the 3 diamonds have the 4 stone effect where its 4 diamonds creating one whole one…I love the ring..but I am kind of disapointed it doesn’t have that *special meaning*…he gave it to me as an early christmas present…We was in the kitchen and he hands it to me and says *merry christmas*. it was exactly what i wanted for an engagement ring…but of course he was not on one knee…he asked if i liked it because I guess I had a look on my face like I didn’t but I did.. i think I was just bummed out he didn’t ask me to marry him.

He said maybe one day I will get a bigger one if we ever did get engaged…I mean the ring he already gave me is plenty! has this ever happened to anyone??
His mother & I are extremely close…she reassured me that her kids wait for anything important because they wanna know its a good descion.. after all his brother waited 6 years to propose to his girlfriend.. & they have been together for 9 years..so I suppose that may be my bf’s plans…

My fiance and I just bought me a new engagement ring this week. It is a 1 carat 3 stone ring in 14K gold. I clean my ring every morning to get rid of dirt and anything else that would not make the diamonds shine. Is it safe to clean your ring everyday in a cleaner kit bought from the jewelery store? Will it make the gold and the diamonds those their shine and color if cleaned too much?

My boyfriend is letting me pick out my ring. I really want the Tacori 3 emerald diamond ring but not sure what size stone to put in the center. would anyone happen to have pictures of what certain carats look like on your finger. i usually wear a sz 7 so my fingers are not that little. i don’t want something that looks fake but i want it to stand out. the tcw of the ring is 1.51 without the center…thank you

And diamonds, emeralds, sapphires are all good. It doesn’t have to be diamond. We like platinum / white gold. She likes celtic type stuff as well as the simple 3 stone rings. Engraved designs are good but nothing with the trinity or anything religious in it.

Any ideas on rings or any ideas on a good place to go?

There is a Robbin’s Bros right by my apartment. Is that a good place? They look expensive from the outside.

I wear a 4.5 ring. Before I get excited about putting more stones on my engagement ring.. do you think it’d work? I want to add 2 more for a past/present/future ring.

My dad died a year ago and I just found a diamond ring he gave me years ago. I’d like to buy another diamond and have it reset.
I have VERY small hands, but I’m not a dwarf. lol

Also, how does it look? Third one down, white gold 3 stone. Probably going with a 1 or 1.5 total weight.
